Orangebox

Orangebox is a highly respected and innovative designer and maker of contemporary office furniture. My ongoing work with them includes everything from the website copy (see pages featured in the gallery) to launch material for new products, posters to press releases, case studies to people profiles, pitches to presentations.

In spring 2018 I worked with Orangebox Creative Director Gerard Taylor and graphic designer Russell Warren-Fisher on That's not a stick, that's a log! 20 observations and insights into emerging trends in the workplace (featured in the gallery). I have subsequently worked with them on two more books of insight.

BAA Terminal 5

London consultancy Bostock & Pollitt designed this beautiful 60pp hard-back book as a promotional tool for Heathrow Terminal 5.

The book was designed to bring to life the type of retail experiences that T5 would offer, to encourage high quality retailers to do something spectacular at the site.

Clarence Court Eggs

In May 2019 I created Tone of Voice guidelines for Clarence Court to guide those writing for the brand as it seeks to expand internationally ('many writers, one voice').

I'd previously worked with Lolly Design and photographer David Loftus on a beautiful hardback book celebrating the 9oth anniversary of Clarence Court EggsThe brief from Lolly included interviewing bloggers and chefs, quail farmers and 'Team Egg', as well as writing bios (for the birds as well as the people featured), descriptions of the eggs, recipes and incidental copy.

Microsoft Accelerator

Microsoft Accelerator is an immersive coaching programme designed to get promising high tech startups to market more quickly. In 2013 I helped the pilot cohort of hand-picked start-ups to articulate their written pitch to investors (offering a number of them advice on straplines and tone of voice). I went on to do the same for subsequent cohorts.

"It is great to have Chris on board to work with the Accelerator startups. The teams find her insights extremely useful, and her input really helps to crystallise their thinking around messaging and positioning. She's then able to encapsulate their businesses in some short, punchy and descriptive copy. As always, she is great to work with and able to quickly understand what is needed, delivering copy that really sings."

St Martins Lofts

To add topical interest to the website they were creating for St Martins Lofts, branding and design consultancy Pollitt & Partners asked me to research and write about interesting events, exhibitions, restaurants and bars in Soho.

The features appeared on the website under the title Soho Life.

reMarkable

I worked with the reMarkable team in the run-up to the launch of the 'paper tablet' – a digital device for reading, writing and thinking. I started by helping them to refine their positioning and tone of voice, before moving on to writing their web copy.

Material Change

I created the tone of voice and web copy for

Recycle Your Electricals, a UK-wide campaign from Material Change. I've just completed work on infographics that will shortly be launched on the website and on social media, and also shared via partner organisations.

Energy Future

In 2018 I worked with this global energy industry training specialist to create web copy and a 30-second brand film script / elevator pitch.

'Thunk', navy blue

When working with Edinburgh-based design company Navy Blue, I invited writers and photographers to contribute to a joint promotional publication.

Thunk, the resulting vacuum-packed piece, later featured in an exhibition dedicated to inspiring promotional work by graphic design agencies, which was held at London's Design Museum

Meadowhall

London-based consultancy Pollitt & Partners created a new identity for Sheffield's Meadowhall shopping centre. After devising the tone of voice for the brand, I created copy for radio, press and billboard ads and also for tannoy announcements, staff t-shirts and gift cards. I also worked on the website, and on the seasonal 'minizines' featured at left.

In the run-up to the launch of the new brand I devised and ran a Tone of Voice / writing workshop for Meadowhall's internal marketing team and external PR, TV/Radio & ad consultancies. The attached feedback form was typical of the response to the workshop.

atelier ten

I first worked with award-winning UK and US environmental engineers atelier ten in 2001, writing their early website copy and this publication celebrating their 10th anniversary, and later contributed to their new global website, working with directors in the US and UK.
